Catering for Small Groups

Posted on November 28, 2014 at 7:20 pm

A small catering project is not always as easy as it seems. It depends on the type of food and drink being made, and the level of service. A formal dinner party is the type of project that comes with a lot of pressure.

There is no room for mistakes, and a dinner party would require hot delicious food, friendly service, short intervals between meals and a lot of care and attention. The smallest details become important when you’re catering for small groups, and that’s because people are paying more attention.

Small business meetings are similar too, and in some cases you are asked to represent a company with a quality service, so food and drink must be presented well, delivered to the table quickly and delicious to taste.

What Makes a Burger a Great Burger?

Posted on August 26, 2014 at 4:01 pm

It can be quite amazing to see the two burgers that look exactly the same, yet taste completely different, and it tends to be the small things that make a big difference. Buying quality minced beef is a good start, and then you have to make sure you’re seasoning the beef and coking it to perfection; preferably to a medium colour.

The sauce used also makes a big difference and you should try different combinations from time to time. You may then find that winning formula. The bun should always be considered carefully too, and you’ll find that some of the best burger joint will make their own buns rather than opting for shop bought.

A classic beef burger can be one of the tastiest treats when each element is carefully considered, and the more time you spend planning you burger, the better it will be, while timing is extremely important too.

Lunch can creep up on your when you’re busy, but you don’t always have to take a considerable amount of time to prepare a meal and we’re going to talk you though three of the easiest options.

If you have a potato in your house then why not pop it in the oven, wait 45 minutes or so and add some beans, cheese or butter to it for a tasty treat. It takes a while to bake, but the preparation can take less than a minute.

The Perfect Picnic

Posted on April 4, 2014 at 12:59 pm

As the sun is starting to creep out from amongst the clouds, start preparing a picnic. Having a picnic during the Summer months can be entertaining and a blast for the entire family. It’s a great to get the family together whilst eating some delicious food and play fun games. It doesn’t take more than a picnic basket, a few food items from the cupboards and a football.

Location is paramount for a picnic:parks, riversides, hilltops, and beaches all provide glorious picnicking destinations. But no matter where you choose to have your picnic, even if it is just in your back garden, what you eat and drink is just as important. But what food do you choose? There are plenty of different foods and drinks you can take to a picnic but it is probably the best choice to go for something everyone will like such as the traditional British picnic foods of: sandwiches, pork pies, scotch eggs, sausage rolls and potato salad. You could even bring a disposable barbeque along to a picnic if you want. Here are some ideas for picnic foods that don’t require too much fuss:

  • Blue Cheese Potatoes
  • Cold Fried Chicken
  • Pasta Salad
  • Pitta Kebabs
  • Fruit Salad
  • Chicken Slaw (Chicken Coleslaw)
  • Flapjacks

If you have kids, plan some competitive family games as entertainment. Sporting competitions can involve: rounders, cricket, football, dodgeball, tag , hide and seek , tug-of-war , sack racing, skipping races or water fights.

These foods are made by your grandmothers and mothers with utmost love and care and hence it is very special. Every person has his/her own idea of comfort food which may include meatloaf with mashed potatoes, homemade macaroni and cheese, cheese rich pizzas, chocolate chip cookies and apple pie with ice cream.
