Successfully Catering For A Small Event

Posted on May 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm

When people consider catering, they always think about large events. But, caterers are commonly used for smaller events across the nation. Sometimes just dropping by some food, other times staying at the event. So, how can you successfully cater for a small event?

When catering for a small event you need to take into consideration the party numbers. You should always provide more food than what you would expect for a small party as you never know how much people will eat.

You should also consider the portion sizes that you send to a small event. We find it is best to provide smaller, bitesize pieces for the guests to eat. These are more practical than larger items. Especially if there is not much room to display the items.

Finally, you will need to consider the space you have. A lot of caterers will look at displays for their food. With smaller events, you may need to go with something more basic due to the lack of space.

Desserts to Cater For a Crowd

Posted on August 26, 2015 at 8:22 am

If you’re catering for a large crowd, you’ll need some ideas about what to put on the menu. You’ll want to provide a bit of variety, but as a host you’ll have plenty of other things to think about as well. Here are some easy and convenient ideas about desserts which can be used for catering en masse:
1. Chocolate brownies. You won’t need to serve them in large portions because they’re so rich, and if you choose to make them yourself, they can be easily baked in large batches.
2. Chocolate sheet cake. It’s easy to make, and you pour the frosting over whilst the cake is still warm, so there’s no labour-intensive icing process which is required with other cake recipes.
3. Cheeseboard. Even a small cheeseboard will feed a lot of people.dessert-352475_1280
4. Tiramisu. This is an easy dessert to assemble for as many people as required. Use ready-made sponge fingers for convenience.
5. Cupcakes. They’re extremely fashionable in the culinary world, and are often used at events as a modern take on a traditional cake. They’re an easy choice because they’re individual, so you can provide them in any quantity you need.
6. Flapjack. Simple yet effective, it can be baked in bulk and dressed up with nuts, berries and fruit if you want something a little more elaborate.

Taking Cooking Lessons

Posted on February 18, 2015 at 4:54 pm

kitchen-scale-532651_1280Many people take cooking lessons, and learning to make tasty dishes can be enjoyable for people of all ages. Whether you’re looking to become a more organised baker or keen to learn complex dishes from across the globe, a series of cooking classes can give you the knowledge, confidence and the technical skills to become equipped in the kitchen.

There are many restaurants that provide cooking classes, and it’s important to choose a genre of food that you love and have a passion for. For example, if you’re a fan of homemade Italian dishes, then choosing a restaurant that specialises in traditional pasta and pizza dishes can be a good option.

Most cooking lessons can be undertaken in the evenings, and it’s a lot nicer to be involved in the creation of quality dishes, rather than just watching video tutorials and practicing on your own.

Catering for Small Groups

Posted on November 28, 2014 at 7:20 pm

A small catering project is not always as easy as it seems. It depends on the type of food and drink being made, and the level of service. A formal dinner party is the type of project that comes with a lot of pressure.

There is no room for mistakes, and a dinner party would require hot delicious food, friendly service, short intervals between meals and a lot of care and attention. The smallest details become important when you’re catering for small groups, and that’s because people are paying more attention.

Small business meetings are similar too, and in some cases you are asked to represent a company with a quality service, so food and drink must be presented well, delivered to the table quickly and delicious to taste.
