The burger has boomed in the UK

Posted on December 28, 2017 at 3:34 pm

You don’t have to wander far in the UK to find a burger store. There are no so many gourmet burger bars it’s hard to choose, but this really is a sign of how things have changed in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and you can see this American influence more clearly than ever before. Burgers have long been popular here like they have in many countries, but to have such a huge range nowadays is quite crazy, especially when it used to just be a case of visiting McDonalds or Burger King. The demand for burgers has spread throughout the world too, and you can even visit countries like Thailand and Vietnam and find little Western owned and run burger houses, so wherever Westerners travel there’s like to be a fair few burger shacks to pick from. We expect this trend to continue and there will likely be more additions in the next year, but let’s just enjoy it, because this clever creation is back with a bang!

Desserts to Cater For a Crowd

Posted on August 26, 2015 at 8:22 am

If you’re catering for a large crowd, you’ll need some ideas about what to put on the menu. You’ll want to provide a bit of variety, but as a host you’ll have plenty of other things to think about as well. Here are some easy and convenient ideas about desserts which can be used for catering en masse:
1. Chocolate brownies. You won’t need to serve them in large portions because they’re so rich, and if you choose to make them yourself, they can be easily baked in large batches.
2. Chocolate sheet cake. It’s easy to make, and you pour the frosting over whilst the cake is still warm, so there’s no labour-intensive icing process which is required with other cake recipes.
3. Cheeseboard. Even a small cheeseboard will feed a lot of people.dessert-352475_1280
4. Tiramisu. This is an easy dessert to assemble for as many people as required. Use ready-made sponge fingers for convenience.
5. Cupcakes. They’re extremely fashionable in the culinary world, and are often used at events as a modern take on a traditional cake. They’re an easy choice because they’re individual, so you can provide them in any quantity you need.
6. Flapjack. Simple yet effective, it can be baked in bulk and dressed up with nuts, berries and fruit if you want something a little more elaborate.

Creating the Ultimate Cheese Board

Posted on June 24, 2015 at 1:31 pm

cheese-817627_1280Most Brits love a cheese board. it’s the ultimate savoury dessert, and it’s very easy to put together. You just have to pick the right cheese. We all have our favourites, and that’s why it’s important to have different types for different palate but if we had to choose our top 3 they would be:

Cheddar – It’s probably the most common cheese, and it’s perfect with a cracker, on toast, in a sandwich or melted on top of a pasta bake. Whether you’re a mature or mild fan, a cheddar should never be left out on a cheese board.

Brie – There’s no cheese that’s easier to cut into than Brie, especially when it’s been baked to perfection. A cracker with warm Brie and a couple of grapes is the perfect combination in our minds.

Blue Stilton – This one is probably the smelliest of the three, and it certainly packs some flavour. Born in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, the cheese is a protected designation of origin food, and it’s only growing in popularity.
