Gnocchi – Why it’s so good for you
Posted on October 24, 2016 at 4:42 am
For those of you who don’t know what gnocchi is, it’s a small dense type of pasta usually made from potatoes, eggs and flour. It goes very well with pasta sauces, vegetables, meats and salads, and around 1 cup of potato gnocchi contains around 13 grams of fat. There isn’t a great deal of protein in this pasta, and at the end of the day it is a carbohydrate, meaning you do need to eat it in moderation and serve it with the right foods. We recommend having a small portion of gnocchi with lean meat like chicken breast or turkey steak, and grilled vegetables, that way you’re getting healthy fats, vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. It’s all about balance when it comes to living healthy and like many types of food, gnocchi can be a vital part of that healthy balance.

Why are avacados so healthy?
Posted on September 28, 2016 at 1:09 am
You’ve probably read about avacados in every healthy eating book or magazine, but if you’re not familiar with this fruit, then you may wonder what all the hype is about. Well, Avacods are healthy, they’re known as an alligator pear or butter fruit and they provide a substantial amount of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). Because they’re naturally nutrient-dense, they contain nearly 20 vitamins and minerals. Some say they’re not just great for our bodies, they’re great for our vision too. This is because avacados contain lutein and zeaxanthin, two phytochemicals that are concentrated in the tissues in the eyes, where they provide antioxidant protection, minimize damage from ultraviolet light. It’s no wonder why then that they’re extremely popular in Australia where you’ll find more avacados than apples in supermarkets. If you don’t eat this popular fruit in any of your meals, try it because it really will do you the world of good.

Jerk Beef Wraps
Posted on August 21, 2016 at 10:22 pm
Making jerk beef wraps are incredibly simple but the flavours you get are phenomenal. Simply fry some strips of sirloin steak in a frying pan and add in three spring onions, two teaspoons of jerk seasoning and water so that it begins to simmer away. You should then get a nice whiff of the Caribbean, but there’s more to come. Add in two red chillies (thinly cut) and some pineapple. Then add in some precooked rice, and when the water begins to be absorbed by the rice, you’re nearly there. Get out the wraps and zing them in the microwave for 20 seconds, add in in some shredded lettuce and mayonnaise and then dish out the beef and onion filling. Then simply wrap and serve alongside sticky jerk sauce. It’s a pretty simple dish and one you can have a play with, but your guests will absolutely love it. Just be sure to remove the chili seeds if you don’t like it too spicy.

Organising a bake off at work
Posted on July 20, 2016 at 7:10 pm
A bake off can bring fun and competition to your workplace, and that’s why many individuals organise these at their workplaces every year, especially when the Great British Bakeoff is on TV. To organise this event in your workplace, you’ll need to do the following:
Pick a theme
Every good bakeoff has a theme, whether that’s sport, music, Hollywood or cars. You choose the theme and let people get creative, it’s that easy.
Pick a prize
People will only spend money on ingredients and put thought into it if there’s something to win. Make sue you get a gift that’s worth fighting for.
Raise money for charity
Make non-entrants the voters, and make them pay £2 per slice, then the money can go to charity.
Organising a bake off isn’t tricky. Once you’ve sent the email out and put a few posters up you’re good to go, just make sure you build up to the big day and get a few people to sign up in advance.

Cocoa Tea
Posted on June 21, 2016 at 9:20 am
Cocoa flavoured tea is becoming more popular today as more brands are creating their own versions. Take Hotel Chocolat as an example, their cocoa tea is becoming a best selling product, and the way they make it is easy.
The cocoa shells that usually get thrown away after the cocoa beans have been removed, get placed into a tea bag, bringing the real flavours of cocoa into the water, meaning it’s completely healthy. It would be a shame to waste these shells as they do carry great flavours, and one of the only things you can do with them is make tea and sell it for substantial sums of money and that’s what many of the major players are now doing. It’s so easy to make you can easily create your own at home and we’re sure you’ll be impressed with the results.
