Greek is starting to trend again in the UK

Posted on October 6, 2017 at 7:17 am

You don’t have to search far in a major city for a Greek restaurant selling classic Gyros kebabs, and many people are now taking to their own kitchens to create this absolutely beautiful dish. The trend has even spread throughout the wedding industry, with many Greek catering firms providing meat cooked on skewers with delicious wraps. This very hands-on meal is so warm and hearty and perfect all year round. You can make it light and sweet for summer, or hearty and calorific for winter, so it’s very adaptable, and actually very easy to make. There is an art to cooking chicken, lamb and beef just right, whilst the flavours will take some practice, but this is a nice dish that can be perfect for all foodies. If you’re dieting, looking to gain weight or maintain it, this could be a healthy part of your diet, and it’s understandable why the trend is now here.

Can healthy food make you happy?

Posted on September 1, 2017 at 2:26 pm

Who says the healthy food has to be boring or bland, there are many healthy dishes that are packed with flavour. Some standout examples include curries, soups, salads and stir-fry dishes. A lot of the food eaten in South East Asia is healthy but the flavours can be out of this world. It’s often about making sure you get your flavours right. By researching the herbs and spices used in dishes and preparing correctly, you can really give your healthy meals a bit of punch, and that in turn may make you and your guests very happy. We think people can enjoy a healthy lifestyle, but not many enjoy the food they eat. That said, we think this can all change with some research into the best quality ingredients, and of course a little bit of cooking practice. Have you tried making a healthy dish that’s full of flavour? If so, did it make you happy?

Tasty Autumn Dishes

Posted on August 14, 2017 at 1:41 am

As we nearly reach autumn, more people will be looking for homely comfort food rather than light summer recipes, and here are just a few ideas to warm your tummy this autumn:

Beef Stew

A classic British meal with lots of goodness. Most families have their own beef stew recipes and even if you don’t you can make yours by looking at a recipe online, then tweak it by adding your favourite meat and vegetables. Beef works well because it tenderizes as it cooks slowly, and it pairs perfectly with potato. You only need to serve this dish with a slice of bread and butter. Let the flavours of the beef do the talking.

Rice Pudding

Who doesn’t love a rice pudding? It is sweet stodgy and so very comforting. The perfect treat after a long walk with the dog in brisk conditions.

Chicken Curry

A chicken curry can be made mild or spicy depending on your preferences, but either way, it’s a nice way to warm yourself through. It’s relatively light too and it can be served with any kind of rice, or bread and butter if you wish.

Buffet versus Set Menu for Your Wedding Meal

Posted on June 17, 2017 at 5:56 am

Selecting a food option for your wedding may be a daunting task, trying to cater to everyone’s food preferences and dietary needs. It is important to remember that it is your wedding day and you and your partner should be in charge of making the final decision when it comes down to the wedding food.

A great way to make you and your guests happy is by opting for a buffet as your main wedding meal. This works great during the warmer months as you can incorporate a BBQ and a variety of salads and other side options too. The BBQ can include meats and vegetarian foods too, and with a buffet style your wedding guests have the option to go up for more food should they want to.

Buffets aren’t for all, as some may see this as too informal for their main meal. In this case, a set menu is probably the best option. Make sure you are happy with your final food choices and just check the caterer is happy to have vegetarian or gluten-free options available too.

Barbecue food ideas for this summer’s garden parties

Posted on May 14, 2017 at 3:26 pm

With the weather starting to improve, most are making the most of getting outdoors and the barbecue are making an appearance. Barbecues are really what makes a great summer, bringing friends and family together, eating good food and having a couple of beers to wash it all down.

If you are thinking of hosting a barbecue in your back garden, you certainly don’t want to disappoint. Getting the food right is a must, and of course, it starts with the meats. Go to your local butcher and select a good range of meats, from burgers, sausages, ribs, chops and chicken, everyone love choice. Flavour up your meats the night before, leaving them to absorb the marinade overnight ready to release the flavours over the heat.

Salads and extras are a must, adding 3 different salads, from a basic pasta to a leafy green bowl, every is happy. And just before you are ready to tuck in, get the pre-cooked cobs on the heat for that added barbecue flavour.
